What is CT Scan?

A CT scan, also known as a computed tomography scan, is a medical imaging technique that uses specialized X-ray equipment to produce detailed images of the body's internal structures.

During a CT scan, the patient lies on a table that is moved through a circular opening in the scanner, which rotates around the patient and takes multiple X-ray images from different angles. These images are then processed by a computer to create a detailed, cross-sectional view of the body part being scanned.

CT scans can be used to diagnose a wide range of medical conditions, including bone fractures, tumors, blood clots, and infections. They are particularly useful for detecting internal injuries or abnormalities that may not be visible on a standard X-ray.

What is 128 Slice CT Scan?

A 128-slice CT scan is an advanced medical imaging technique that uses a multi-detector CT scanner with 128 rows of detectors to capture detailed images of the body's internal structures.

Like the 64-slice CT scan, the 128-slice CT scan takes multiple images of the body in a single rotation, which are then processed by computer software to create detailed 3D images of the area being scanned. The term "128-slice" refers to the number of detectors in the CT scanner, with each detector capturing a thin slice of the body.

Compared to the 64-slice CT scan, the 128-slice CT scan offers higher spatial resolution, faster scanning times, and improved image quality, allowing for more accurate diagnoses and better visualization of small or complex structures.

128-slice CT scans are used in a variety of medical specialties, including cardiology, oncology, and neurology, and can be particularly useful in detecting small or early-stage cancers, evaluating blood vessels, and assessing cardiovascular disease.
